Natáčení celého projektu financuje německý televizní gigant RTL Television a jedna epizoda ho průměrně přijde na cca 10 milionu Kč. Spotřebuje se v průměru 10 až 25 automobilů na jednu epizodu. Jejich likvidace je okořeněna dlouhými skoky a ohlušujícími explozemi, jaké jsou na našich obrazovkách k vidění poprvé. Od začátku Kobry 11 jich tak podle RTL šlo do šrotu už přes 3000 (slovy přes tři tisíce)!
Natáčení, které zpočátku probíhalo v okolí Berlína, se od 3.série přesunulo do Kolína nad Rýnem, Düsseldorfu a Hürthu, později přibyl i Bonn. Zajišťuje jej německá "kaskadérská" firma Action Concept, která svými výkony může směle konkurovat hollywoodským akčním filmům. Často musí ale štáb použít i výkonnou počítačovou techniku, aby dosáhl požadovaných výsledků a efektů. "Používáme stejnou technologii, s jakou pracovali filmaři snímků "Den nezávislosti" nebo "Godzilla". Auta by při explozích nikdy nelétala tak vysoko a daleko," vysvětlil programový ředitel televize RTL Marco Conrad.

Seriál Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei (zkráceně Kobra 11) je od prvních odvysílaných epizod v březnu roku 1996 nejúspěšnější německý akční seriál. Zrození nového týmu v Kobře 11 zavinili diváci. Dožadují se totiž stále dalších epizod. Jenomže Semir Gerkhan (Erdogan Atalay) a Tom Kranich (René Steinke) mají spoustu práce a nenatočí více než 16 epizod ročně, což televizi RTL ani divákům nestačí. A tak musely do týmu nastoupit posily - Frank Traber (Hendrik Duryn) a Susanna von Landitzová (Julia Stinshoff).
Seriál Alarm für Cobra 11: Nasazení týmu 2 vznikl na přelomu roku 2000-2001 původně pouze jako projekt. Po zjištění, že nový seriál bude mít úspěch, se začalo natáčet. Protože vývoj celého nového seriálu stojí neuvěřitelné peníze, natočily se pouze 4 epizody + pilotní film. Televize RTL už jen netrpělivě čekala na výsledky sledovanosti, podle kterých se nakonec rozhodlo o dalším natáčení. Frank a Susanna se stali vítanou posilou nejen pro dálniční team, ale také pro protagonisty seriálu.
Od 17.4.2003 na RTL (resp. od 18.5.2003 na Nově) mají Tom a Semir v revíru nové kolegy. Jejich jména jsou: Frank Traber (Hendrik Duryn) a Susanna von Landitzová (Julia Stinshoff). Poprvé se představili v pilotním filmu s názvem "Most smrti" i se svými kolegy Tomem a Semirem. Spolupracovali však jen v tomto příběhu. V dalších epizodách už Frank a Susanna řešili své případy sami, přesto jim v pátrání pomáhá šéfová Anna Engelhardtová (Charlotte Schwab), šikovná sekretářka Andrea Schäferová (Carina Wiese) a nadále nemůže chybět ani uniformovaná dvojka Dieter Bonrath (Gottfried Vollmer) a Horst Herzberger (Dietmar Huhn). Susanna a Frank však již nejsou zaměřeni především na řešení problémů na dálnici, nýbrž řeší kriminální případy, jež se týkají jejího bezprostředního okolí. Jejich epizody jsou tedy spíše detektivkou, i když akční scény v nich samozřejmě nemohou chybět.
